Agreements
The BLET operates under several types of agreements that govern the
working conditions and rights of our members. Once signed, these
agreements do not expire but may be changed or cancelled through various
means, including subsequent agreements and rulings by public law boards.
The primary types of agreements include:
Local Agreements
These apply specifically to our division and may sometimes be shared with neighboring divisions. They often address localized issues and job conditions.
Coastlines Agreement
This applies to all engineer positions on the former Coastlines territory. It serves as the foundation for most of our current job rules, although many of its provisions have been modified by subsequent agreements.
System Agreements
These cover employees under former railroad systems. In our case, we operate under the former Santa Fe system agreements.
National Agreements
These are negotiated at the national level and apply across all railroads in the United States.
