General Committee Highlights
Our General Chairman shared updates and discussions on several key issues:
- $27K Payouts
These payouts were tied to the conductors’ contract — not ours, and not related to jobs being sold out.
- New Ratification Talks
Discussions continue around potential 16% pay increases in future contracts.
- Carriers Playing Hardball
Carriers remain resistant to fair negotiations.
- Board 6 & BLACLAC Crews
- If called for BLACLAC (short turnaround service) and then instructed to dog catch (HOS relieve), this is a change of class of service.
- Members: Put your claims in.
- Profit Sharing
Potential negotiations may include profit sharing as part of wage increases.
- Coastlines Agreement
The GC is considering renegotiating to better serve members.
- On-Property Agreements
Guidance was shared on how to properly make motions and submit changes to ensure they are considered.
- Deadhead Runarounds (LA–Barstow)
Carriers may run around rested crews in the hotel, provided the deadhead crew does not tie up their ticket at the away-from-home terminal.
Emergency Board Increases
